After trying conventional therapy and having little success, Dr. Benson was first introduced to chiropractic care, and ultimately, was inspired to enter into the profession. Dr. Benson entered Life Chiropractic College West to pursue a chiropractic degree and has now been in practice since 1986. He is the only doctor in the South Bay area to hold Advanced Certification in Clinical Biomechanics of Posture/Chiropractic Biophysics Technique and also holds Advanced Certification in Whiplash Trauma and Spine Trauma and Traumatic Brain Injury. Dr. Benson is a clinical instructor of Chiropractic Biophysics, specializing in Biomechanics of Posture, and the past President of the Santa Clara County Chiropractic District. She completed her doctorate degree at Palmer Chiropractic College in Port Orange, Florida in 2011 and graduated Magna Cum Laude in her class. Dr. Heather Shaw established Nova Chiropractic Center for Optimal Health in 1995. She previously had a practice in Minnesota for three years before moving to much warmer California to serve those in the Santa Clara community. Because Nova is like a new beginning, our practice name was appropriate as I restarted my practice in a new area. Dr. Shaw loves her job and finds her profession to be so rewarding. She looks forward to helping you with your new beginning to a healthier you. My purpose is to help as many people as possible to live the life they were meant to live. Dr. Doss grew up in Oakland, California, and graduated from California State University at Sacramento with a degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Therapeutic Exercise and Rehabilitation. He is an avid reader and researcher with a specialized focus in the body’s biomechanical functions and repair systems. He received his Doctorate with Clinical Honors from Life Chiropractic College West, where he founded and held leadership positions in multiple on-campus organizations. He received the prestigious President’s Award for his graduating class. After graduation, he earned certifications in Advanced Spinal Correction and Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Doss has traveled the globe as a chiropractic missionary to teach and deliver chiropractic to underserved populations. His advanced knowledge and experience in Athletic Training was inspired by his past as an elite athlete in multiple sports including: football, wrestling, and martial arts. He is certified in Applied Kinesiology, which is a system of body analysis that uses functional assessment measures like posture, manual muscle testing, neuro lymphatic points, and palpation analysis to develop a comprehensive clinical impression of your health.
