Donald Gerken, DC, DACCP, CSTD Specializes in Family Practice Donald is a chiropractor who specializes in family practice. After completing his doctorate in chiropractic, he went back to school for additional training in pediatrics, pregnancy, CranioSacral Therapy and nutrition. He is the only Chiropractor in south San Diego certified in family practice by the ICPA (International Chiropractic Association of Pediatrics) at the diplomat level. He is also the only chiropractor in south San Diego that is certified diplomat in CranioSacral Therapy by the Upledger Institute. Dr. Gerken loves helping women throughout pregnancy. His focus isn’t strictly pain relief, but improving the overall function of the pelvis and soft tissue structures surrounding the uterus. This optimizes labor and delivery. Once the baby has arrived, Dr. Gerken focuses on helping mothers to regain their health and strength while breastfeeding. He is happy to work hand-in-hand with your Doula or Midwife.

I have been under chiropractic care since I was 7 years old. I was the kid who got strep throat all the time when I was young. Our family chiropractor figured out what was going on and convinced my parents to let me get adjusted. After that, I never had strep throat again! Growing up, I was very athletic—playing soccer, surfing, and snowboarding. Chiropractic care helped me thrive in all these areas. When I was 17, I knew I wanted to help other people thrive with chiropractic care too. As a mother of two boys, I understand how important family health is. When pain or discomfort affects one family member, it impacts everyone. That's why I've dedicated my career to providing effective chiropractic care for patients. I started ChiroVibe Chula Vista in 2011 with a simple mission: help as many people as I can to live a healthier, happier, higher quality of life through chiropractic care. I am very proud to call myself a chiropractor, but my favorite titles are Mom and Wife. As the wife of a Naval Special Warfare sailor and the mom of two very athletic teenage boys, I am aware of how challenging and beautiful life can be. This gives me unique insight into understanding the military and law enforcement lifestyle, and I can relate to all the parents in my practice because I am one too. We are a very active family—from snowboarding, surfing, and dirt bike riding to watching our sons play football at Chula Vista High School on Friday nights. I love hiking, yoga, Pilates, and CrossFit, and I believe that staying active is a huge part of living an authentic, healthy lifestyle. We have a cute dog named Ponch who is blind, a fat cat, and 15 chickens. I am a Chula Vista native and am raising my family here, which makes me very invested in the health and wellbeing of my Chula Vista neighbors.

Past pursuits in his practice have been in the sports field from treatment of professional rodeo as a team doctor for Wrangler Sports to treatment of Charger, LPGA golfers and surfing athletes. He frequently serves as a guest commentator on radio talk shows including local stations KFMB and FOX. Dr. Blakely is also a recognized expert for treating and testimony in the field of Personal Injury, however, also enjoys the satisfaction of having a general chiropractic practice that includes the treatment of children. A native San Diegan, Dr. Blakely enjoys all outdoor sports and spending time with his family in the local mountains hiking and fishing.
