Dr. Alex began his career after he received certification from the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Instructor. While working in this capacity, he worked with clients from all walks of life who wished to improve or restore their overall health, muscle tone, and strength. He saw how people dealt with various sports-related injuries, automobile-related traumas, and simple household accidents – sometimes wisely, but often not. He, himself, incurred shoulder damage from a sports injury, and after enduring a great deal of chronic pain which conventional medical treatments did not cure, he finally sought help from a chiropractor. Upon completing a successful series of treatments with chiropractic, he knew that chiropractic care was his true calling. He began my pre-med undergraduate work at Ohio State University, received his doctorate in Chiropractic from the National University of Health Sciences in 2001, and then proceeded to begin his chiropractic career in Naples, Florida. What had begun as an interest in health and fitness ultimately blossomed into a career which provides him with the satisfaction of helping people to regain, maintain, and improve their health.

Dr. James Bergtold, DC, brings over 20 years of experience helping patients find relief from disc injuries, nerve pain, scoliosis, and joint issues through safe, non-invasive care. A 1997 graduate of Life Chiropractic College, he holds advanced certifications in spinal decompression, laser therapy, SoftWave, and Cranial Facial Release (CFR). His personalized treatment plans combine gentle adjustments, decompression, and MLS laser therapy to ease pain and improve function, without surgery or medication. Inspired by his own healing journey and guided by Christian values, Dr. Bergtold is dedicated to supporting patients of all ages in restoring mobility, confidence, and lasting wellness.

Growing up as the child of an Air Force pilot, I had the unique experience of living in 13 states and even overseas before settling in Louisiana during my high school and college years. There I discovered a passion for sports, especially track & field. I excelled in the 110-high hurdles, breaking many records across the southeast region and ultimately secured the national champion title in 2012. I accepted a full-ride scholarship to Louisiana State University to study Pre-med. There I trained daily with Olympians and I was determined to make it there myself. Exercise, nutrition, and health became my entire focus. Unfortunately, my racing career was continuously stunted by sports injuries. Spending so much time in the rehab center with physical therapists and athletic trainers sparked an interest in holistic care. At the same time, shadowing medical doctors left me discouraged at modern medicine, where care is more often dictated by insurance companies than the doctors. In discovering the field of chiropractic medicine, I found a fit for my desire to teach people how to achieve optimal wellness through natural & holistic means. Attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, my experience & training has prepared me to provide the highest quality of care with techniques including Gonstead, Thompson, Diversified, Activator, Flexion-Distraction, and more. After meeting my wife, we moved to Naples to be closer to family and to build up a family practice together and promote healthier lifestyles for our community.
