Performance Health & Wellness was started 35 years ago by Dr. Christian Barney. He began by studying to be an athletic trainer and then became an exercise aficionado. He entered chiropractic because it was in alignment with his values on health and disease. After chiropractic school, he realized that chiropractic work was focused too much on the manipulation of joints to affect the nervous system. Dr. Barney felt if we treated the muscular system people would need fewer treatments. He then began investigating soft tissue techniques to include in his practice. After finding Active Release Techniques® (ART), he created a rehab system based on movement efficiency and supporting appropriate neuropathways. The focus of our work is movement, ease of movement, the efficiency of movement, and confidence in movement. Our patients realize that movement is life.
